Sentenced to 24 years of prison

Illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances

On 25 June 2024 the Rotterdam District Court sentenced Jos Leijdekkers to 24 years in prison for six drugs transports totaling more than 7,000 kilos of cocaine, a violent robbery in Finland and for ordering a murder. The Court also ordered the imprisonment of Leijdekkers. In addition, the police is still investigating other cases in which Leijdekkers is believed to be involved, like the disappearance of Naima Jillal. Leijdekkers is still missing. The Netherlands Public Prosecution Service is offering a 200,000 euro reward for the tip that leads to his arrest. On 3 May 2022, the Public Prosecution Service added Jos (Joseph Johannes) Leijdekkers to the Dutch Most Wanted List and the EU Most Wanted List. On the same day, two old photos of Leijdekkers were shown in the crimewatch TV programme Opsporing Verzocht. After the photos had been shown on TV on 3 May 2022, the police received a dozen tips about Jos Leijdekkers. These tips made clear that Leijdekkers’ appearance had changed and a new composite sketch was made. The police also received new footage of Jos Leijdekkers. Leijdekkers, also known as ‘Bolle Jos’ (chubby Jos), has no fixed address in the Netherlands. It is believed that he lived abroad for quite some time now. Until recently, he was thought to be living in Turkey, but the investigation has not yet revealed his whereabouts. With the help of the new footage, the police hope to receive more information about his whereabouts in order to arrest him. A 200,000 euro reward is offered for the decisive tip leading to Leijdekkers’ arrest. The reward will be paid out several days after his arrest. The National Investigations & Special Operations Unit, together with other police services and several domestic and foreign partners, is looking for Jos Leijdekkers. The National office of the Public Prosecution Service (OM) is in charge of the investigation. Jos Leijdekkers is considered to be one of the key players in international cocaine trafficking. The Rotterdam court calculated in its that Leijdekkers must have earned millions from the cocaine trade. The intercepted cocaine transports of 7,000 kilos in the case for which he was convicted in the Netherlands probably only form a small part of this. Intercepted crypto communications messages from Sky-ECC provide a glimpse into his leading role in this trade. These messages also show that Leijdekkers has probably been laundering tens of millions of euros and hundreds of kilos of gold that may have been earned from the cocaine trade. Leijdekkers is also believed to be involved in very serious cases of excessive violence, including the disappearance and death of Naima Jillal. This woman went missing on 20 October 2019 after she got into a car in Amsterdam. Intercepted crypto messages revealed that Leijdekkers played an important role in Jillal’s disappearance. For a long time, there was no trace of Naima Jillal, until photos of a woman believed to be her were found on a phone seized in the Marengo investigation.
