Depuis janvier 2021, Salman Adinehvand est le commandant de l'unité d'urgence de la police de Téhéran, faisant partie des forces de l'ordre de l'Iran, principale organisation de sécurité chargée du contrôle des foules et de la répression des manifestations. Son unité a été directement responsable de la répression violente des manifestations organisées à Téhéran en septembre et octobre 2022, au cours desquelles des dizaines de manifestants ont été tués par les forces de sécurité, qui ont fait usage de munitions réelles. Il est donc responsable de graves violations des droits de l'homme en Iran.
