The Four Seasons Hotel Damascus is a hotel in central Damascus. Inaugurated in 2005, it was owned by the Syrian Saudi Company for Tourism Investments (established via a partnership between the Syrian Ministry of Tourism and Prince Al Waleed bin Talal) before businessman Samer Foz bought the hotel from Al Waleed bin Talal in early 2018. Its board of directors is chaired by Yasmina Azhari (the Dutch Honorary Consul in Latakia and Tartous). According to the Financial Times, Foz concluded a deal with Saudi Prince Al Waleed bin Talal for the sale of the latter’s share of the Four Seasons Hotel. The international chain Four Seasons decided to end its tenure of the Four Seasons Hotel Damascus. In August 2021, a report issued by the Foundation for Defense of Democracies - FDD criticized the United Nations dealings with the Syrian regime and businessmen tied to it, and claimed that United Nations agencies spent $14.9 million in 2020 for accomodation and other services at the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus. Over 70 million and 100 thousand dollars have been spent on the hotel since 2014 according to the annual statistical report of the United Nations. The Four Seasons Hotel Damascus is placed on US sanctions lists.
