Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, the largest higher education institution in Russia. He is one of the key supporters of the regime in the field of higher education. In the early days of the war, he signed an open letter supporting the Russian President's decision to launch a military operation against Ukraine. He served as an authorized surrogate for Vladimir Putin in the non-competitive presidential elections held on March 15-17, 2024, and March 18, 2018. Authorized surrogates voluntarily campaign for Putin's re-election, who is responsible for initiating the aggressive war against Ukraine and political repression in Russia. He is a member of the Supreme Council of the United Russia party, which formulates and implements Vladimir Putin's policy of aggression against the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine.
