In 2008, Buehler was assessed a penalty of $200,000 by the U.S. Department of Commerce for using its German affiliate (Buehler GmbH) to reexport a chemical product mixture called Coolmet from Germany to Iran without U.S. permission. Such reexportation without permission is a violation U.S. Export Administrations Regulations.
