NameAngara[sources]
DescriptionRoll-on/roll-off ship, known for arms transports, which is investigated by the UN Panel of Experts for transporting containers between the DPRK's port of Rajin and Dunay in the Russian Far East from early September to October, as shown in satellite imagery. The contents of these containers, suspected to be transported by rail to a Russian ammunition depot near the Ukrainian border, remain undisclosed. Owned by M Leasing LLC and operated by Marine Trans Shipping LLC, Angara's activities include multiple round trips between Dunay and Rajin, loading and unloading 20-foot shipping containers. Notably, Angara's AIS system stopped transmitting its location in August, with no resumption by January 2024. The ship made several visits to both Rajin and Konyushkov Bay, a harbor used by the Russian navy, suggesting a systematic transfer of goods between the DPRK and Russia. The vessel Maria also participated in similar transport activities. These operations are under scrutiny for potentially violating sanctions.[sources]
