Responsible for the management and customization of water resources in the country. The Ministry is an assembly process for a number of public bodies, such as: Ministry of Public Works and Water Wealth, and the Ministry of Dam Al-Furat, and the General Establishment for Land Reclamation, the General Organization for Investment and Development of the Euphrates Basin, and the General Foundation for the Euphrates, and the General Company for Water Projects, Water.

كانت تسمى سابقا وزارة سد الفرات، ومن ثم وزارة الري حتى ٢٠١٢ حيث تم تسميتها وزارة الموارد المائية. مسؤولة عن إدارة الموارد المائية في البلاد وتخصيصها. تعتبر الوزارة عملية تجميع للمهام التي كانت موزعة على عدد من الجهات العامة مثل: وزارة الأشغال العامة والثروة المائية، ووزارة سد الفرات، والمؤسسة العامة لاستصلاح الأراضي، والمؤسسة العامة لاستثمار وتنمية حوض الفرات، والمؤسسة العامة لسد الفرات، والشركة العامة للمشاريع المائية، والشركة العامة للدراسات المائية.
