Branch 225 - Military Intelligence

Branch 225 is subordinate to the Military Intelligence Directorate. It monitors all telecommunication lines in the army and armed forces. Moreover, it supervises and monitors the implementation of all communication projects in the country. It is specialised in internal and external communication, whether by phone, mobile or fax. According to Zaman Alwsl, the Assad regime’s intelligence arrested dozens of staff members from the Communication Department and the subordinate technical branches, following Iranian intelligence instructions, soon after the killing of Qasem Soleimani in January 2020. The arrests targeted various ranks of officers, non-commissioned officers, and enlisted men, including the Office Manager, escorts and drivers of Major General Maan Hussein, the Director of the Communication Department, who was also detained. His moveable and immoveable properties were seized. He was referred to a joint Iranian-Syrian intelligence commission of inquiry on charges of dealing with Americans and committing the crime of high treason.

أحد فروع شعبة الاستخبارات العسكرية. يقوم بمراقبة كافة الخطوط السلكية واللاسلكية في الجيش والقوات المسلحة، كما يُشرف ويتابع تنفيذ كافة مشاريع الاتصالات في القطر. يختص بالاتصالات الداخلية والخارجية، التي تجري عبر الهاتف أو الموبايل أو الفاكس. وبحسب معلومات حصلت عليها "زمان الوصل" اعتقلت مخابرات نظام الأسد وبتوجيه من المخابرات الإيرانية عشرات العناصر من إدارة الاتصالات والأفرع الفنية التابعة لها، بعيد مقتل قاسم سليماني في كانون الثاني 2020. شملت مختلف الرتب من ضباط، وصف ضباط، وأفراد بمن فيهم مدير مكتب ومرافقوا وسائقوا "اللواء معن حسين" مدير إدارة الاتصالات، الذي تم اعتقاله أيضاً. كما تم الحجز على أمواله المنقولة وغير المنقولة وتمت إحالته إلى لجنة تحقيق مشتركة بين المخابرات الإيرانية والسورية بتهمة التعامل مع الأمريكيين وارتكاب جرم الخيانة العظمى.
