Syria International Islamic Bank is a Syrian commercial bank established in the form of a joint stock company with a capital of 5 billion Syrian pounds. It is owned by Qatari companies as well as Syrian businessmen such as Issam Anbouba and Rami Makhlouf. Ihab Makhlouf, brother of Rami Makhlouf, is involved in the project. In 2012, Syria International Islamic Bank was subjected to US sanctions. The EU has also accused the bank of operating as a front to facilitate fraud by the Commercial Bank of Syria abroad.
