He is the son of Nikolai Platonovich Patrushev, an aide to the President of Russia on shipbuilding issues, and until May 14, 2024, the Secretary of the Security Council of Russia. He is a friend of Vladimir Putin and one of the key figures in the political system created by him. He holds leadership positions in key state-controlled companies, ensuring their operations align with state policy: Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Russian Agricultural Bank JSC, Member of the Board of Directors of United Grain Company JSC, and Member of the Board of Directors of Gazprom PJSC.
