Member of the 11th Iranian parliament (Tehran constituency). Member of the Supreme Cyberspace Council. Former Member of the City Council of Tehran. Former Minister for Information and Communications (2009-2012). As Minister for Information, he was one of the top officials in charge of censorship and control of internet activities and also all types of communications (in particular mobile phones). During interrogations of political detainees, the interrogators make use of the detainees' personal data, mail and communications. On several occasions following the 2009 presidential election and during street demonstrations, mobile lines and text messaging were blocked, satellite TV channels were jammed and the internet locally suspended or at least slowed down.
En tant que ministre de l'information, il a été l'un des hauts fonctionnaires en charge de la censure et du contrôle des activités de l'internet et des communications de tous types (en particulier la téléphonie mobile). Lors d'interrogatoires de prisonniers politiques, il a été fait usage des données, communications et courriers privés de ces personnes. À plusieurs occasions depuis l'élection présidentielle de 2009 et lors de manifestations de rue, les lignes de téléphonie mobile et les messageries ont été coupées, les chaînes de télévision par satellite ont été brouillées et les services internet ont été suspendus ou du moins ralentis au niveau local
